Sprint Review / Demo
Showing what was built to stakeholders.
Also known as: sprint demo, demo
A sprint review is the meeting at the end of a sprint where the team shows what it finished to stakeholders, such as product managers, other teams and customers where possible. The purpose is feedback. The team demonstrates working software, and stakeholders say what they think and what they’d like next.
The output is a better understanding of the work, not a sign-off. Feedback from the review often feeds into the next sprint planning and the backlog.
Only show what’s actually finished and works. A demo of a half-built feature leaves people guessing what’s real. The giving a demo concept covers how to prepare.
The classic mistake is treating the review as a status update with slides. Stakeholders can’t react well to a list of tickets, and the team loses the feedback that makes the review useful. Show the software, invite questions, and write down what changes come out of the discussion.
